PODS Stuffs-A-Truck And Transforms Into High-End Art

Posted July 9, 2013 by Jennifer

PODS will be participating in two great events, Feed SoCal and Ventura Art Walk, this month in Southern California.

FEED SOCAL — To help fight hunger and feed local Southern California communities, PODS will be an official partner to support Southern California Regional food banks through a major hunger initiative called Feed SoCal.

More than 650,000 Los Angeles children are forced to skip meals every day because they do not have food in their home, according to the Feeding America Map the Meal Gap 2013 report.

As part of the 2nd annual hunger initiative ABC7 will host four Stuff-a-Truck events on two Fridays, July 19th and July 26th.  PODS locations in Ventura, Riverside, Los Angeles and Orange County are working together to fill three PODS containers with a donation of $10,000 in needed food.  PODS will then transport the donations to the Second Harvest Food Bank Orange County, Los Angeles Regional Food Bank and Ventura County’s FOOD share.

Last year, the Feed SoCal campaign received more than 1 million pounds of food in donations, resulting in 833,333 meals for those in need.  This year, they’re hoping to raise 1.5 million pounds to provide 1.25 million meals for local children and families.  For more information, visit

ART WALK – Sixteen PODS containers will be showcased in a unique way during the ArtWalk Ventura cultural event.  The PODS containers will go to local artists who will transform each into an original work of art.  From July 20 – 21, the PODS containers will be on display as pop-up PODS Galleries throughout the streets of Ventura’s Westside Cultural District.

PODS as art have been popping up in several leading art communities across the country, including previous exhibits in the Little Tokyo area of Los Angeles, as well as the Art League in Houston with their Portable On Demand Art exhibit last year.

We’re extremely excited because this will be the largest PODS Container gallery to date.  For more information, visit
