Hoarders

Have you ever seen A&E’s reality show Hoarders?
It really brings to light how many people in this world have passed the point of being a little messy and have become hoarders. The show begins by informing us as viewers that it is not a choice, but a condition that some people simply can’t help, which is an important thing to remember.
Think about the last time you had to organize your home and how hard it was to just get down to business and finish the task. Now think about how hard it must be for the people on this reality show.
These are some eye-opening facts that start of each of the episodes that can help put this problem in perspective:
Compulsive Hoarding is a mental disorder marked by an obsessive need to acquire and keep things, even if the items are worthless, hazardous, or unsanitary.
More than 3 million people are compulsive hoarders.
I guess this just serves as a reminder that doing things like decluttering your home may seem like a hard thing to get done at the time, but some people truly cannot bring themselves to do it. I don’t know about you, but this makes me rethink complaining about little things when there is so much else happening to worry about.
